HOW TO APPROACH ABORIGINAL INFUSION IN MODERN LANGUAGES

The use of First Nations content will require teaching Aboriginal content explicitly, as well as incorporating the principles of Aboriginal learning into our classes with a greater regard to subtle and seamless implicit unit and lesson design.

In addition to the General Tips outlined on our resource main page (we strongly recommend reading that first), the role of the Modern Languages incorporating Principles of First Nations teaching focuses on:

  1. Demonstrating Aboriginal World Views and First Nations Principles of Learning when learning and showing mastery of common, high frequency vocabulary and sentence structures for communicating meaning.

  2. Recognizing cultural impact of First Nations on Francophone communities, practices, and traditions.

Below you will find links to Grade Specific Guides that align Course Competency and Content with suggested strategies.
