- Hygiene Products Week 2020, celebrating the hygienic product.

Hygiene Product Week is an event for industry, retailers and consumers to raise awareness of the many ways that hygiene products help us live happier lives. It is a time to celebrate the vital role that hygiene products play in our daily lives.

Hygiene products include personal, everyday, medical, veterinary and recreational hygiene products, but the main purpose is to raise awareness about the industry and for consumers to understand the importance of hygiene products in their lives.

The event is organised in collaboration with the Hygiene Products Association and Hygiene Products Association Ireland (formerly the Irish Hygiene Products Manufacturers Association) and is coordinated by the Hygiene Products Sector Committee.

2020 Event Programme

The Hygiene Products Week 2020 programme is being produced and managed by Hygiene Products Association Ltd. A steering committee is being formed for the 2020 event with representatives from the Hygiene Products Association and representatives of the main hygiene product sectors. The 2020 Programme has been updated to reflect the current World Health Organization COVID-19 situation and is now managed from a central base in Ireland.

Occupational exposures may play a role in the development of asthma. To study this association, a case-referent study was performed by using parental reports of asthma. The study population consisted of 130 consecutive patients seen in an allergy clinic who reported that their child had asthma. Information about asthma from the child's physician was reviewed for each subject to confirm the presence of asthma. The parents of subjects were asked to complete a standard questionnaire to ascertain whether the child had been exposed to aerosol dusts or gases at work. Cases and referents were matched on the basis of age, sex, and birth month. Sixteen of the 130 children were current smokers. There was a significant relationship between employment of the parents in heavy industries and asthma in children with a history of asthma (odds ratio, 2.6; 95% confidence interval, 1.1 to 0b46394aab
