The library learning commons is the physical and virtual collaborative learning hub of the school. It is designed to engineer and drive future-oriented learning and teaching throughout the entire school. ( http://llsop.canadianschoollibraries.ca/library-learning-commons/ ) It becomes critical to modernize the traditional Library because with time everything is changing and becoming more modern. For example Tv’s use to be big boxes that only come in black and white. Now we have Tv’s that are paper thin and are in 3D. Techonology is a main way of modernizing things. You need to keep things modern or else the youth will see it as “ old” or “ where grandma hangs out”. Keeping things fun and fresh is everything. In the DWP learning commons I’ve started to see more and more kids start to become more involved as we have changed aspects of the library. Over the summer more plants were added and Gordan our beloved fish. As we make this place more homey and comfortable, more and more people will want to come in and hangout. I see it first hand with most of my friends and how they want to come into the learning commons now because of the comfort level with the couches and blankets. Adding more furniture like bean bag chairs and getting rid of the uncomfortable wooden seats will make more people want to come into the LLC and check out literacy. A part of the library that I would like to focus on most would be comfort and aesthetic. It is necessary to keep the library's aesthetic up to date to make people feel like they are entering a modern day library with modern features, like new laptops and unique furniture.
